As part of Armed Forces Day, West Berkshire Council has been flying the Armed Forces flag this week in celebration and unity with those who are currently serving or are military veterans.

Flying the Armed Forces Flag is an important gesture that symbolises national unity and support for those who serve in the military. By flying the flag, we are acknowledging the role the armed forces play in maintaining security and peace, promoting a sense of solidarity and appreciation among residents and service members alike.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans, and cadets. West Berkshire has the highest number of ex regular or ex reservists living in the area compared to the rest of Berkshire, with over 4000 people living in the district.

Nigel Lynn, Chief Executive, said:

"As a council, we are very proud to support Armed Forces Day, recognising the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of our service members. Their commitment to protecting our freedoms and ensuring our security inspires us all."

Armed Forces Day is not just a celebration but a reminder of the dedication and bravery of the UK's military personnel. Whether through attending events or simply raising awareness, everyone can play a part in honouring those who serve.

The Councils website has also been updated to include a section committed to Armed Forces in West Berkshire.

You can find more information about Armed Forces Day on their website.
