Data for Article 4 directions

Article 4 directions restrict permitted development rights, which means that a lot of the things people do to their land or houses without planning permission and often take for granted, are brought into the realms the planning process. It means that a landowner is required to seek planning consent whereas without the direction this would not be necessary.

Data for conservation areas

Conservation areas are designated to safeguard areas of special architectural and historic interest, the character and appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. Within these areas special planning controls operate which need to be considered when undertaking development.

Data for listed buildings

A listed building is a structure of particular or architectural historic interest deserving of special protection It may not be demolished, extended, or altered without special permission from the local planning authority.

Data for tree preservation orders

A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) can be placed on single trees, groups of trees and even whole woodlands. Each tree preservation order may apply to a number of tree preservation order zones, and a number of individual trees.
