Multiply: Funding for providers

What is Multiply?
Multiply

Multiply is a new £560-million national programme that aims to develop the numeracy skills of adults over 19 years. The funding is for three years ending March 2025 and is linked to the Shared Prosperity Fund that supports the government's levelling up agenda.

Who is Multiply aimed at?

Multiply is primarily aimed at adults over the age of 19 years who do not have a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in maths.

Target groups include:

  • Adults with low maths skills who live, work or volunteer in West Berkshire
  • Local employers who would benefit from numeracy skills across the workforce
  • Local groups/organisations that support families

Around 17 million adults in England have low every day maths skills that are equivalent to those expected of a primary school child (Entry Level 1). Good numeracy skills can provide real benefits to individuals' life chances and employment success which in turn can have a positive impact on the country's economy.

What can Multiply funding support?

Multiply funding can support a range of provision from small confidence-building activities to full maths qualifications.

Courses and activities should be free of charge and flexible around the needs of learners.

Providers are encouraged to work with partners, particularly employers, to develop bespoke programmes that are accessible in terms of delivery times and methods (online/face-to-face) and include additional support to meet learner needs.

All provision is to be delivered in line with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework quality standards. Full training and support will be provided throughout the planning and delivery process.

Multiply funding supports projects ending March 2025.
