Appeal a Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction decision

If you disagree with our decision about your entitlement to Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction, you can ask us to look at it again.

If you require more detailed information about how we have calculated your benefit or reduction, please contact us and ask for a 'statement of reasons'.

To ask for a decision to be reconsidered or to request a statement of reasons, please contact us in writing within one month of the date of our decision notice.

You can use our Icon for doc request for reconsideration form [25KB]  to tell us what you think is wrong and why. Any relevant supporting evidence (such as letters from your GP or employer) will help to explain why you are requesting a reconsideration.

We will then write to you, letting you know the outcome of your request and what happens next.
