Grass cutting schedules

Grass verges on highways

We cut grass verges in urban areas five times per season (April-November). Verges on rural roads are cut twice a year.

You can see the verges we maintain by consulting our online map. The grass cutting schedule for rural verges follows the Plantlife management guidelines for grassland road verges.

The dates below show the approximate dates when each cut commences. Note that these dates will vary from year to year due to climatic and weather conditions.

    1st cut mid-March

    2nd cut end of May

    3rd cut late July

    4th cut mid-September

    5th cut late October

If you notice a problem with an urban or rural grass verge, report it to us online.
