Improving Schools in West Berkshire

Every school securing 'good' and better outcomes for all learners

We want every child in West Berkshire, whatever their background, to fulfil their potential through the best education possible. Our goal is for educational achievement in our schools to be amongst the best nationally at every phase of education, with all of our pupils equipped to be lifelong learners.

West Berkshire Council works together with schools with the aim that every school in our district is at least ranked 'good' by Ofsted, and with as many as possible judged to be 'outstanding'.

We advise local authority maintained schools in our area, at all key stages, on curriculum, raising pupil achievement and attainment and the use of Pupil Premium Grants as well as current Ofsted requirements.

We also give help and advice for pupils learning to speak English, pupils with Special Educational Needs and children that find themselves in the council's care.

You can find up-to-date reports on school ratings in West Berkshire on the Ofsted website.
