The Local Authority Delegated Officer (LADO)

Information about the LADO, their role, and contact details

The Local Authority Delegated Officer (LADO) manages allegations made against professionals, volunteers and those in a position of trust, who work with children and young people up to the age of 18.

The LADO will provide advice, information and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations about allegations and concerns about conduct regarding paid and unpaid workers. They will also provide oversight for individual cases from all partner agencies.

They will ensure there is a consistent, fair and thorough process for all adults against whom an allegation is made. The LADO will also monitor the progress of cases to ensure they are dealt with as quickly as possible.

They will chair Allegations against Staff/Volunteers meetings in cases where the allegation requires investigation by the police and/or Social Care. They will make sure that the child's voice is heard.
