Discretionary housing payment (DHP) application form

DHP’s are payment to help people with their housing costs (short term). We cannot help with some parts of your rent, for instance if meals, heating, lighting or water rates are included or where your housing costs have been fully covered by your Housing Benefit or Housing Element of Universal Credit.

To be able to receive DHP you must be getting at least some Housing Benefit or the Housing Element of Universal Credit and demonstrate that you are having difficulties with your finances.

To help us assess your application promptly, we need as much information about your circumstances as possible. Please complete all sections on this form and provide up to date documentary evidence to support your application within 28 days of submitting this form.

We will let you know the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible and aim to assess all applications within 28 days. If your application is unsuccessful we will let you know why.
