Mutual exchange

If you are a social tenant, you can swap homes with another social tenant in West Berkshire, or elsewhere in the country. This is known as 'mutual exchange'.

You are a 'social tenant' in West Berkshire if your landlord is a housing association.

Mutual exchange is available to all social tenants, but you will need your landlords permission.
 

How to access mutual exchange

You can register on the Home Swapper website to advertise your property and view other advertised properties. You can find guidance on mutual exchange and getting started on the Home Swapper website.

You can also search for mutual exchange properties on the Exchange Locata website. If you find someone you'd like to swap with, the website will allow you to contact the current tenant using the details they have provided and arrange a viewing. Please ensure you take appropriate precautions if you're attending a property viewing alone.

Remember, you cannot do a mutual exchange without your landlord's permission.
