Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and Assessments (including Annual Reviews)

Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment criteria

Every child and young person has unique strengths and unique needs. To help families begin the process of creating an Education Health Care plan for their child, West Berkshire Council have created Icon for pdf criteria for starting an Education, Health and Care assessment [246KB]

If the child or young person doesn't fit these criteria, the West Berkshire Education Health Care (EHC) Panel will use their judgement, knowledge, experience, and the evidence included in the child's referral to decide if an Education, Health and Care Assessment is required. The EHC panel is made up of SEN Team staff, educational psychologists, staff from Learning Support Services, the Headteacher, and might include partners from Health and Social.
