Our Environment Strategy Delivery Plan

Our Delivery Plan guides the delivery of our published Environment Strategy 2020-2030

The Environment Strategy Strategic Objectives: Carbon Neutral by 2030; Responsible economic growth; Healthy communities; Resilient to climate change; Working with our communities and partners.

Our Delivery Plan lays out a framework of actions that will set us on the path to reach carbon neutrality for the district by 2030. It picks up on the statements of intent made in the Environment Strategy. We are working hard to tackle the climate change emergency with bold action, whilst also improving and enhancing our natural environment.

Whilst many actions will help to deliver a number of the Strategy's strategic objectives (seen in the image to the right), the actions within the Delivery Plan are organised according to the strategic objective that they most closely relate to.

The work to deliver the Strategy will evolve as we develop partnerships and new opportunities arise. This Delivery Plan will act as a basis for us to work from. With this in mind, the plan will remain 'live' and we will be continuously developing it between now and 2030.

We have highlighted our key actions in the Icon for pdf Summarised Delivery Plan [9MB] .

*We have provided instructions at the beginning of the Excel spreadsheet which explain how to navigate the document effectively.

Hear more about the plan and our progress so far from Cllr Steve Ardagh-Walter in our Environment Strategy Delivery Plan video.

A number of our actions within the Delivery Plan contribute to delivering the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. This set of ambitious international goals outline criteria for reaching a sustainable future. Our Delivery Plan helps to achieve these, for example by demonstrating our commitment to renewable energy, supporting community climate action, and protecting our natural environment.

The Delivery Plan was approved by the Executive at their meeting on 15 July 2021.
