Mental Health Support Team

Officially launched in January 2020, the Trailblazer West Berkshire MHST is currently working with 28 schools across the region, providing additional support to promote the mental health needs within schools and the local community.

Funded by NHS England, Department of Health England and Health Education England, the service is a major component of a wider 2018 Government initiative between the Department for Education and NHS England, which is seeking to develop a framework that provides faster access to mental health support in schools.

Where do we work?

The current Trailblazer (MHST 1) team works in partnership with 3 Secondary schools (The Kennet, The Downs and John O'Gaunt) and most of their feeder Primary schools.

A new Wave 5, MHST (MHST 2) is currently in the 'establishing phase' and will be working in partnership with 3 more Secondary schools (Park House, St Barts and Trinity) and some of their feeder Primary schools, as well as some others. This team is due to launch in September 2022.
