Find childcare: day nursery

Day nurseries are for children between around 3 months to 5 years old. They are usually open between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday all year round (excluding Bank Holidays).

A day nursery must register with Ofsted. They are Inspected by Ofsted to ensure they provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children they care for.

Day nurseries can offer free entitlement funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds, part time and full time care, and sometimes offer after school and/or holiday care.

You may be entitled to help with childcare costs.
