Community Planning

This can cover all aspects of community life, including services, facilities, roads and traffic, community safety, playgrounds, open spaces, social clubs and many more topics.

A Community Plan is developed after detailed consultation with residents to make sure that the final Plan reflects their needs, views and interests. 

From this detailed consultation, an action plan is created that lists the key priority issues identified by members of that community. The action plan includes time frames for the delivery of specific projects that aim to address these issues with the full support of the council.
 

The advantages of being a community with a Community Plan include:

• giving residents the opportunity to express their views and take control over how they want to see their community develop
• providing a formal record of published evidence on community needs and priorities
• the referencing of this evidence when planning applications are considered
• creating a sense of community spirit - increased volunteering is often observed during the production of a Community Plan
• helping the council to determine more accurately how local services should be delivered in your area
• accessing grant money (up to £5,000 maximum), available via our , for projects which are identified in your community plan
• Providing clear evidence of need when applying for other or funding opportunities
• better partnership working with local agencies on specified projects
• stronger links between the community and the corresponding town/parish council

Any parish or town within the district can develop a Community Plan. We can help with guidance through the process, to ensure the final plan can be fully supported and endorsed by the council.
