What is being proposed
Lawrences Lane has been identified as a suitable site to trial a prohibition of motor vehicles restriction in order to create a pleasant route for walkers, cyclists and equestrians between Cold Ash and Thatcham, improve recreational access to the countryside and encourage active travel overall.
Access to properties directly adjoining Lawrences Lane is unrestricted but only available from one direction. In order to achieve this the restriction is in place between the south side of access to Park Farm and a point approx. 200m north of Lawrence's Lane (cul de sac) with advance signage at the Lawrences Lane cul de sac and Broad Lane junctions. is available to view as well as theThe restriction came into force on Tuesday, 19 July 2022 through the provision of signage with the intention to install removable bollards at a later date if required. Access is permitted to the relevant people for the following reasons only:
- to remove obstructions from the highway
- to maintain, improve or reconstruct the carriageway or adjacent land
- to lay, alter, maintain remove any utility apparatus
- access for emergency vehicles

We invite people to comment on the scheme by completing the comment form and submitting it to the Traffic and Road Safety Team before Thursday, 19 January 2023.
What happens next
All comments and objections we receive will be considered, and a decision made by Individual Executive Member decision in March 2023, as to whether the restriction will be made permanent or not within the following 12 months.
