2024 rates

In the tables below are the rates at which the community infrastructure levy (CIL) was charged by West Berkshire Council as a CIL charging authority for the 2024 calendar year (the 'indexed rate').

This summary was prepared in line with the requirements of regulation 121C of the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010 (as amended).

There are two tables: the first has the rates for the 'Newbury and Thatcham and Eastern Urban Area' and the second has the rates for the 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and East Kennet Valley'. You can see the areas marked out on our CIL differential rates online map.

These rates have been calculated by applying the formula 'R x Iy over Ic': 

The indexation formula for calculating CIL rates: r multiplied by Iy over Ic.

In this formula, R is the rate at which CIL is charged in the adopted West Berkshire CIL charging schedule (2015) - the 2015 rates are set out below.

Ic is the index figure for the calendar year 2015 ("the year in which the charging schedule containing rate R took effect"). This figure was 256.

Iy is the index figure for the calendar year 2024, as published by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This is 381 .


2023 rates

In the tables below are the rates at which the community infrastructure levy (CIL) was charged by West Berkshire Council as a CIL charging authority for the 2023 calendar year (the 'indexed rate').

This summary was prepared in line with the requirements of regulation 121C of the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010 (as amended).
