West Berkshire Council has commissioned community, activity and leisure strategy specialists Stuart Todd Associates (STA) to create their new Playing Pitch Strategy (PPS) and Master Plan for Henwick Worthy Sports Ground. The PPS is a key part of the Council's Sport and Leisure commitment to deliver excellent sport and leisure facilities and opportunities across the district.

It is recognised that participation in active leisure and sport has evolved, post-pandemic, and there is a need to understand the current and future requirements for sports pitches and courts in West Berkshire. The Council and STA will be working closely with National Sports Governing Bodies, Sport England, and our wider communities to ensure they are at the heart of this process.

Nigel Foot, West Berkshire's Executive Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure, Sport, and Countryside said,

"We're excited to be working with STA on this important project. They have extensive experience in delivering playing pitch strategies for the public, private and community sectors and, coupled with their knowledge of the local area and need, are perfectly placed to help us deliver our ambition to provide the high-quality sports pitches and courts for West Berkshire."

Stuart Todd, Director of STA said,

"We're very pleased to be working with West Berkshire Council on this important project and with our Associates, 'Land Use Consultants' on the master planning element for Henwick Worthy."

Stuart and his team have already started engaging with local parish councils, schools and other pitch or court holders, to understand their specialised local knowledge, viewpoints, and usage in their area. We look forward to sharing the new PPS Strategy and Master Plan for Henwick Worthy in early summer 2025.
