Our website usage
When and how our website is used.
Over the last five years, our website usage has grown year on year. This indicates the importance of sharing information online and providing digital services to our residents.
Below, we've included three charts that show our analytics data on page views, site visitors, and the devices they use:
Page views
As the bar chart above shows, our total page views increased in 2020 and 2021, staying at around 9.2 million in 2022. In 2023, Google Analytics changed from 'Universal Analytics' to a new system, 'Google Analytics 4 (GA4)'. This may be why we can see a decrease in views in 2023, as GA4 counts page views slightly differently to Universal Analytics.
In 2024, our top 5 most viewed pages were:
- book an appointment to visit a recycling centre
- the home page
- find your next collection day
- our login page
- find and comment on a planning application
Site visitors
This bar chart shows that the number of visitors to the site increased by over 300,000 users in 2020. Since then it's stayed at over 1 million visitors each year.
Devices
The chart above shows that the number of users visiting our site on a mobile device has increased since 2019. In 2022, desktop users increased slightly, although mobile users were still the highest percentage. In 2024, the percentage of mobile users increased slightly again, whilst tablet usage decreased.
As our users use desktop and mobile devices, we need to make sure our site is mobile friendly as well as displaying well on larger screens.
